BURBANK, CA (February 20, 2010) — Charles Bornstein, editor on such horror
classics as HALLOWEEN and THE FOG, has joined the post-production team of
BOX OF SHADOWS, editing the new horror thriller by director Mauro Borrelli
and producers Ed Polgardy and Scott Rudolph.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Charles Bornstein editing this picture,” said
Borrelli. “He brings emotion to every moment and best of all, is a master at
cutting scary scenes.”
“We are very pleased with the material we have shot, and having Charles in the
editing room will push it to an ever higher level,” said Polgardy.
Bornstein, a 35 year Hollywood veteran, has edited movies in the FRIDAY THE
13TH, HOWLING, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, CRITTERS, and PSYCHO
franchises. His experience in the horror genre is a perfect match for Borrelli’s
dark thriller about a 15th-century coffin that allows a group of college friends to
experience the world as ghosts.
“The story and material for Box of Shadows is edgy, scary, and extremely
entertaining,” said Bornstein. “This movie should be a real treat for fans of dark
material.”
Bornstein is joined on the post production team by visual effects supervisor
Maxim Matthew of Maxim Matthew Creations. Matthew is overseeing the film’s
many visual effects sequences, including images of ghosts, a mechanical reaper,
and a 15th-century supernatural coffin packed with gears and other moving
parts.
Matthew, a visual effects producer currently based in Los Angeles and Berlin,
has numerous international horror film credits, including HEADHUNTER: THE
ASSESSMENT WEEKEND and URBAN SCUMBAGS VS. COUNTRYSIDE
ZOMBIES.
“Box of Shadows is a real playground for a visual effects artist,” said Matthew.
“Borrelli has an amazing imagination, and bringing his vision to life is a real
treat.”
BOX OF SHADOWS is slated for release in Summer of 2010.
